Layered and stitched inspiration art cards video tutorial
Get creative and have fun!
Kristi Nazzaro
These inspirational cards are truly a work of heART for me. I like to surround myself with positivity. This is reflective in the company I keep and the positive messages in my art. Often we need to encourage ourselves and be our own best cheerleaders.
For this project I decided to make a small set of inspirational cards to be used in my art journals. These would also make a perfect little tuck in as a gift for a friend or family member.
The Art Pops™ cards are beautiful on their own and provide such a stunning background for this project. With minimal add on’s such as stamps, stencils, stickers and marks - the foundation for the positive messages has been set. I am so obsessed with torn bits of fabric that I find this element makes its way into 90% of my projects.
I chose messages that were personal to me; phrases that would remind me that this is a creative journey - not a race. As an artist it’s so easy to fall into a routine of comparing myself to others. These cards were a small reminder that I am exactly where I am supposed to be on my journey.
have fun creating your own inspiration cards!
Going Deeper...
Is there an aspect of mixed-media art that you always avoid? Why?
I avoid faces. I have no confidence in my ability to draw faces. I am in awe of other artists who draw beautiful faces or even whimsical faces. I avoid this at all costs. I’d love to one day be able to create faces that are unique to my style. But for now, I always find a way to go in another direction artistically.
What creative tool/supply are you obsessed with right now?
I am currently 100% addicted to Dina Wakley’s Scribble Sticks. They are so easy to use and I find that I am adding them to my journals daily.
