For this design team project I was asked to make something that could be given more of as a gift. I do love my art journaling and such but I love to make other things as well.

Design Team member Jenni Zmuda is sharing with us a special mixed media art box which is perfect for gift giving with us Design Team project. She uses Art Pops™ and Paperbag Studio Stamps to create this gorgeous piece of Art! @robenmarie @jennizmuda…

Wandering around the isle of my local Meijer I found this box and thought it'd be perfect for the project. (I've already started using it for my 'found words'.)

I actually started this project twice but did not like the outcome. So, twice, I ripped off the paper and repainted it. This gave it some glorious texture! Once I did like what I started, using Roben-Marie's new 100 Days Art Pops™ Collection I just built from there.

I don't plan out too much when I create. So what you see in the video is pretty much what you get. Just me adding things (and taking away) as I go along until I like it enough to call it finished.

Going Deeper...

describe to us where you create. do you have a designated studio space or do you have to share it with your family?

I share my creative space with my bedroom. It is a small about 12x10ft room. I have a full sized bed, end table, hope chest and an armoire!

Along one side, in between the bookcase and armoire I have a table that is about 6ft long. It is cramped to say the least! But it is also my favorite space in the house.

It being in the my bedroom serves a couple purposes. One that I am able to leave everything out and on my table and not worry about the mess. I can just close my door.

Another purpose is being a busy mom, if I have five minutes here or there, I can pop in and work on something. Or I can work on it at night when everyone else in the house is asleep and not worry about waking them up. My tiny cramped space works out very well for my art-ing needs. :)

what is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting off with mixed media and art journaling?

If I were to give one piece of advice to someone just starting out, it would be don't compare yourself to anyone else! Comparing what you're doing to what someone else may have been doing for years will just deter you from journaling. Keep your eyes on your own paper, so to speak, and just figure out your own style.
