I am always amazed at the beautiful garlands I see on Pinterest.  Lots and Lots of frills and meaningful words.  For this project I wanted to "think out of my box" and make something that was both beautiful and meaningful.

Design Team member Kristi Nazzaro is spreading joy everywhere she goes and is showing us with how she made this beautiful mixed media banner. Follow along with her video tutorial as she creates something which is sure to make you the hit of the part…

The word Joy holds a great deal of meaning to me.  Not only is Joy a celebration of gratitude and blessings but it also happened to be my maternal Grandmother's name.  She passed away when I was a child.

I knew a Joy garland would be a beautiful sentiment showcasing a life filled with blessings and gratitude while also keeping my Grandma close to my heart. Roben-Marie's Paperbag Studios stamps and wonderful Art Pops™ are the stars of this project.

Going Deeper...

Describe to us where you create. do you have a designated studio space or do you have to share it with your family?

I currently create on my kitchen table.  I have two IKEA Raskog carts filled with art supplies - paint, stamps, stencils, pens, papers.  I roll them out every time I create and roll them back after.  However, I have various pieces of "art stuff" all over my house.  My family is used to pens, painty papers, art journals and tags here there and everywhere in our home.

what is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting off with mixed media and art journaling?

My advice to people just starting out in mixed media is to Keep It Simple. Don't go crazy and try to make everything a masterpiece.  Take your time.  Enjoy the process.  Art is a way to express yourself freely and without judgment.  Allow your thoughts and feelings to flow naturally.
